DIHI Scholar
Norine is a third-year Duke medical student and 2021-2022 DIHI scholar working on the project “Identifying Inequities in Access to Organ Transplantation.” Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Norine completed her undergraduate work at the City University of New York – Hunter College as a Macaulay Honors scholar and studied psychology, behavioral neuroscience, chemistry, and creative writing. Following graduation, Norine spent a year in Kaohsiung, Taiwan as a Fulbright teaching scholar before returning to New York City to obtain clinical experience as a medical assistant and ED medical scribe. Norine plans to pursue a career in general surgery and is deciding on further specialization among transplant, trauma, or surgical oncology. She also hopes to complete future research and education in public policy and healthcare delivery and is excited to work at the intersection of innovation, technology, and health equity. In her free time, Norine loves live music, grabbing dinner and drinks in new cities, and critically analyzing everything from contemporary literature to her latest streaming obsession.
