DIHI Scholar
Bruno is a Machine Learning (ML) Engineer and Data Scientist specializing in the development of predictive models using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and radiographic data. Since joining the Duke Institute for Health Innovation (DIHI) in 2023 as a student scholar, Bruno has led the development of a novel model that aids in triaging patients with chronic lower back pain, effectively connecting them with the right healthcare providers—be it surgeons, physical therapists, chiropractors, or physiatrists.
Prior to his role at DIHI, Bruno worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering for the summer, where he served as an applied data scientist. There, he was instrumental in designing time series models that predict hospital capacity by analyzing both historical and unplanned admissions data, enhancing operational efficiency and patient care.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Bruno is deeply passionate about the outdoors. He is an avid surfer and fly fisher and enjoys trail running in Duke Forest. His favorite coffee drink is a best explained by watching this Dan Campbell press conference.
