The causes of cardiogenic shock are diverse, and include: myocardial infarction (MI), post-operative low cardiac output syndrome, and decompensated chronic heart failure.

The mortality rate of patients with cardiogenic shock is exceedingly high at 40-50%.

We plan to leverage real-time Duke data and novel machine learning methods to identify patients at risk for cardiogenic shock and clinical deterioration to help reduce unplanned escalations of care for improved patient safety.
